Indian professional tennis player Sania Mirza is the highest ranked female player ever from India, reached world No. 27 in singles in the year 2007. Sania was named one of the "50 heroes of Asia" by the Time magazine. She was also listed on the list of "33 women who made India proud" by The Economic Times magazine.
